What opportunities has this apprenticeship gave you?

This apprentice has gave me the chance to work by myself, developing skills personally & professionally. As well as working with other trades. It has also gave me the chance to meet new people, working with tenants to improve their homes.

This apprenticeship has also gave me the chance to Improve my decision making, and time keeping as jobs were scheduled & deadlines are in place.

Do you think you have made much progress since starting?

Since starting with CTS I have been offered a full time contract and I am now able to work by myself with my own van. Tools have been provided along with training to help me progress and improve skills. I also get to work as part of the Radius & NIHE team with engineer & admin staff.

What aspects of the job have you enjoyed most?

I have enjoyed learning on the job as a result of working by myself & as part of a team. Also, i have enjoyed learning something new everyday and being given the chance to improve & train.

Tell us about some jobs/projects/training you have been involved in and skills/knowledge gained?

I learnt about shower trays & units of Sync Living during private training. Toolbox talks take place every month with contracts manager and the team. Additionally, i have been involved in housing with care which is special schemes were urgent works need attended to. It feels great to be part of something making a difference.

Would you recommend people to consider taking the apprenticeship route?

Yes, i would recommend as you get to earn while learning. You also get to be involved in positive projects, with a team of people on the ground and in the office for guidance

The team at CTS are helpful and always want me to do my best with a structured training plan for all apprentices. I was delighted to be the only apprentice from NI to be a finalist at the Ireland Plumbing and Heating awards 2019.
